Traceability and Labeling
Building material producers aim to establish a standard and methodology for a common way to label and identify products and communicate delivery information digitally.
Correct product labeling is a key component for efficient logistics and successful sales.
The target group for the project is actors in the value chain for products and services traded in the construction industry. Identification and labeling of products typically start with manufacturers/suppliers. To ensure satisfactory identification and labeling at this stage, it is important to capture the needs of the various actors further along the product lifecycle.
Guideline
To meet these challenges, packaging, labeling, and product tracking need to be carried out in a common and consistent manner. This document describes the results of the project "Product Labeling and Traceability in the Construction Industry."
The document defines the standard for uniform identification and labeling of F-pak (consumer packaging), D-pak (retail packaging), and T-pak (transport packaging) in the Norwegian construction industry, where standardized EDI messages based on Best Supply 4.0 are a prerequisite.

Experience
The requirements for circularity, climate, and environment in the construction industry are becoming increasingly stricter. Simultaneously, high transaction costs make building more expensive.
To address this, packaging, labeling, and product tracking need to be implemented in a common and standardized way. This document describes the scope and results of the project “Product Labeling and Traceability in the Construction Industry.”
